Equipment finance: common questions
Can I finance a used machine from a private seller?
Many lenders will, subject to an inspection or valuation of the asset.
Do I need a deposit?
Not always. Established businesses can often finance the full price. Newer businesses may need a deposit.
What kind of finance is it?
Usually a chattel mortgage, lease or hire purchase. Each is treated differently for tax and GST, so check with your accountant which suits you.
Can I finance a vehicle I'll also use personally?
The finance must be mainly for business use. Your broker will check this with you.
